Evaluation Activity 7

After reflected on our preliminary task and our final film i feel that our group has really improved our editing techniques and our camerawork techniques. It is goo that we have shown improvement as if we hadn't improved then it would have looked really bad on us as we would show poor technique.

We have specifically improved our match on action, as in the preliminary task we filmed a poor match on action which wasn't really a match on action. in our film we filmed one and we are pleased at how it has come out, it shows match on action as it is meant to be.

This scene is the over the shoulder shot which we used on the left in the preliminary task and on the right is our main film in our preliminary task. On the left we have shot the scene too far away from Sams shoulder which means that we are not giving the audience an insight into what Sam is seeing. Where as on the actual film on the right the way we shot the scene we give the audience a chance to understand my point of view.  I believe that by correcting the mistake that we made in the preliminary task we have made the shot more engaging. By doing this we are trying to make the audience feel like they are in the room with us and seeing what Conor in seeing.

Evaluation Task 3

This is our directors commentary.  In this short audio tape we will answer the following specific questions.

 1. What does a production company do?

2. The idea of a distributor and who that might be and why.

3. Where the money might have come from for a film such as yours

4. Why the various people are named in the titles- which jobs appear in titles and in what order and how have you reflected this?

5.  What your film is similar to 'institutionally' ?

Evaluation Activity 1

Top left hand corner: in this clip we show Conor punching the air as if he is taking part in some kind of fitness routine. this workout leads the audience to believe that the film is a action film when in reality it is a comedy. this illusion may draw in a wider range of audience which is good for any film.

Top middle: In this shot we have a close up of Sam's face and his 'logo'. This shot is good as it allows the audience to form an opinion on the bad guy, we show in the clip that the villain has a bad attitude like all villains do. We have filmed this shot in a dark gloomy room which is the stereotypical view of villain lairs, the room also represents Sam's character. We have not centred Sam within this scene as we are trying to make the audience aware of the room Sam is in. This is because the nature of the room adds to the building of the character by the audience.

Top right: In this shot we have used a double the over shoulder shot. This shot make the audience feel as if they are watching the TV with us. This is used to engage the audience with the film. We have centred the TV in this shot as our main focus as we wanted to draw the audiences attention to the fact that we are watching the television. This immediately makes the audience want to see the bad guy that me and Alex talked about earlier which means that early on we hook the audience in and they want to see more.

Middle left: In the middle left shot we can see that we have used an over the shoulder shot which gives the audience the perspective of the character and also involves the audience within the scene. When you compare it to the over the shoulder shot that we have used with the TV it is different as it has a character interaction. This shot is intended to make the audience switch on and pay attention to see what is happening.

Middle: Similar to the previous shot we have used an over the shoulder shot, my identity is hidden and remains hidden for the rest of the shot. We feel that this scene give the audience a feel of the environment that we are surrounded by. The scene is also important as it shows Conor's personality for the first time in the film.

Middle right: This match on action shot conceals the identity of the mystery man opening the door, this shot leaves the audience thinking about who this person is. This means that even though the hand is centred everyone the audience are aware of the dark scenery which gives them an indication that something bad will happen. This in turns builds up the audiences tension and anticipation therefore keeping them engaged.

Bottom left: We have change the font of the titles and moved them away from the centre of the shot to not distract the audience from the important news and the villain. We have used a wide shot purposely for the reason that we want the viewers to see that Sam is in a evil villain lair. This is how the audience find the villains true intentions.

Bottom middle: We have used a constructive shot which shows half of my body. This is effective as it creates an increase in tension to the scene. We cut it there and did not show any more so that we could make the audience tune in and really focus on what was about to happen. I think that this can also encourage the audience to use audience to use their own imagination to anticipate what might happen next. We have also shown costume in this scene for the first time as we see a hooded figure. This is our first real introduction into my character.

Bottom right: This is the title of Red Tornado, this is effective as we have centred the shot on the  massive explosion in the background which paints the scene of some violence in the movie which is what there is but in a comedic way with the super villains and the superhero. Again this is designed to grab the audiences attention. The Genre is not really given away in the first two minutes but Ii think that is effective as it allows us to have the tense build up at the start. We have decided to have the Red Tornado in the left hand corner as we are really trying to drive through the explosion which really gets the audience engaged.

Evaluation Activity 2

Similarities:
1.They both take the lead role in both our and the film spiderman. Myself, alex, is the main superhero but I'm yet to find himself in the opening two minutes and Toby Maguire is spiderman but at the start of his film he does not know that he is a superhero nor does he want to be.

2. We are both mysterious and hidden in the background characters at the start not aware of there real lives but look like outcasts to there peers.

3.There appearance is similair with the a ruggid look but a look sought after.

Differences:
1. I have a sidekick in Conor where as toby maguire as spiderman fights alone and doesnt need an aid where as from our opening two minutes it seems myself has a companion within Conor.

2.I know my enemy from an early stage where as toby as spiderman has a more in depth look into his family life before introducing a villanous character.

Film Conventions
The film conforms to most conventions of a comedy film, especially comedy spoofs of superhero films such as Kick Ass. There are lots of things similar between the two movies, as well as other movies under the genre of comedy or spoof. The simalarities between our film and Kick Ass are:

Similarities:
1. Both main characters have aspirations of become a superhero despite them being the most unlikely of heroes.
2.They both make themselves as superheroes despite having no special abilities over other normal human beings.
3.The main characters both learn very quickly whom their nemesis is.
4. The film begins very quickly with comedy and the funny reasons why these two main characters want to pursue a life of crime fighting.

Differences:
1.In our film the main character has a side kick whereas in Kick Ass the main character doesn't as such have a sidekick.
2. There are other superheroes in Kick Ass whom are also pursuing the same enemy.
3.Kick Ass shows the enemy as a normal human with no realisation that he is the enemy, whereas the enemy in our movie is and knows that he is a super villain.

Final Film

This is our final film.

Evaluation Activity 6

Tripod
These are the three peices of equipmet obviously the camera and the tripod are used to film the actual film but we used the computer to access photoshop and adobe premier elements we also used mindjet manager pro 6 this was to assist us with some of our planning and research and to help with our evaluation activitie to show what our audience would be like   we have also used other technology such as the i phone to have narrative voice overs while we talk we have used all the adobe software such as premiere elements and photoshop this is used to edit and make the core of the film and photoshop was used for most of our evaluation activitys and to allow our title sequences. The program we used to edit the film was easy to use after a few hours of use, once we learn't how the software used it was an excellent editing software and suited our needs to make film successful.
Premier Elements
We have also used internet network such as youtube so that we could put our film onto the internet.Obviously Blogger is a big part of how we were able to do  our evaluation tasks as we need to post them on there
Camera
The camera we used was also very easy and filmed high quality footage which was obviously a good thing to make our film the best it could be.
