I, Robot

I robot stars Will Smith as a cop. The film starts of with the protagonist waking up to diagetic music, he live in an appartment. He is seen getting changed and puts on some converse trainers and refers to them as his beauties. You would asu,e that this scene is set in the present day as he has no futuristic technology, until he steps out his door to find a robot outside which immediately makes you think that this film is definatly set in the future. The main character has a clear disregard for this robots as he shoves the innocent robot out the way by pushing his palm to the robots face. Once the camera follows the protagonist out the appartment block the whole world he lives in is surrounded by robots and tech from the distant future. The film starred big names such as Will Smith, Bridget Moynahan and Bruce Greenwood. The film grossed an approximate of around $347,234,916.

Film location

When we were talking in a group previously we had a brief thought as to possible film locations. We would firstly film in one of our houses it would be shown as our 'batcave' and some where like the woods near the school or Ashtead common could be used for the villians evil lair.

Blog Feedback

Alex you have a long way to go in regards to your research and planning and is concerning. You should have analysed the opening two minutes of at least six films in a variety of genres and six in the genre of your choice for the production task - which there should be evidence of preperation towards: storyboarding, interviews, photos of locations, scripting.

Some costume thoughts

We were just thinking within our group an we have decided to use welliton boots as a possible choice of footware for our super heroes. The reason we will be using Wellinton boots is because our superheroes wil be wearing what ever items they can find around their house. I think it will be funny as well as it will show the unprofessionality of the 'superheroes'

The batmobile from Batman

Me,Sam and Conor have had various ideas for our trailer such as having sam has our bad guy who looks nothing like a bad guy  for comedy purposes we then will have me and alex valente as our cliche good guys. I will be like batman and conor will be like robin and our on screen chemistry will be the same as theres. This cliche will be different as it will all be  with a comedy twist . We have decided to create our own film production called poppers production  . We think that we will use bicycles as our vehicles like the 'batmobile'.We have also decided that Conor as robin will be the more comic version of robin mean while I wills tick to the cliche strict version of batman we will also use various extras to be sams henchmen but we are yet to decide them.

Kick ass

After our group had decided on the theme of our film, we knew we were going to do a similar sort of thing like in kick ass. I then decided to watch kick ass so I would know what kind of thing this sort of movie would require. I have already watched the movie before but I thought I would watch it again to talk to my group when I next see them. The film kick ass is about a wannabe superhero who is into all of the comic books and superhero movies. The teenage boy is stereotypically not popular between boys and girls alike at the school, his only companions are three other boys which all share the same hobbies and hold the same popularity status. He soon gets fed up with his life and can't believe that no one else has tried to complete their dream and become a superhero. The film is directed by Matthew Vaugn and stars actors such as Aaron Johnson, Nicolas Cage and Chloe Grace Moretez. After watching the film it gave us ideas about what sort of comedy that film requires and who our target audience could be.

film thoughts

Conor, Sam and I were discussing into possible film ideas and we may do a superhero spoof or parody. This Will be very tricky to make it work properly as it would be very hard to make it funny to a broad audience, after talking about it briefly we though that we could aim the film at 15 year old upwards. we would follow in the footstep of other successful superhero parody movies such as kick ass which grossed $48,043,505. kick ass was a very successful film for a superhero parody. we are also going to be discussing other possibilities or movie genres such as a action film.
In this task we ahd to practice the 180 degree rule, we also had to practice match on action shot as well. We had to practice these different techniques becasue we may want to used them in our movie or trailer. I  thought it was pretty successful as we were able to use these shot and use them to a fairly high standard.
other camera work practice, we involved another pair.

What we did today

Today I did some paired work with Conor Redmond to practice our camera work and film editing. The reason for this excersise was to give us practice for when we do our opening two minutes of our own movie. we were sent out to film on any location on the school grounds. We had to make three films which incorporated the phrase "what are you doing here". we would also have to use a variety of different camera angles and shot types to better our camera abilities for our final piece. We originally filmed the first scene in the hall, we then moved outside and we did another clip in the tennis courts. Our final clip was through the maths block, there was a balcony in the maths block so that gave us a perfect spot to do a high angled shot and several others. I think that this activity went well as we were able to experiment several different angles and editing techniques. I think we would have not been able to complete the task as well as we did if we hadn't have used a tripod, the tripod helped massively as it helped keep the camera steady and reduce shake.
