Evaluation Activity 7

After reflected on our preliminary task and our final film i feel that our group has really improved our editing techniques and our camerawork techniques. It is goo that we have shown improvement as if we hadn't improved then it would have looked really bad on us as we would show poor technique.

We have specifically improved our match on action, as in the preliminary task we filmed a poor match on action which wasn't really a match on action. in our film we filmed one and we are pleased at how it has come out, it shows match on action as it is meant to be.

This scene is the over the shoulder shot which we used on the left in the preliminary task and on the right is our main film in our preliminary task. On the left we have shot the scene too far away from Sams shoulder which means that we are not giving the audience an insight into what Sam is seeing. Where as on the actual film on the right the way we shot the scene we give the audience a chance to understand my point of view.  I believe that by correcting the mistake that we made in the preliminary task we have made the shot more engaging. By doing this we are trying to make the audience feel like they are in the room with us and seeing what Conor in seeing.

Evaluation Task 3

This is our directors commentary.  In this short audio tape we will answer the following specific questions.

 1. What does a production company do?

2. The idea of a distributor and who that might be and why.

3. Where the money might have come from for a film such as yours

4. Why the various people are named in the titles- which jobs appear in titles and in what order and how have you reflected this?

5.  What your film is similar to 'institutionally' ?

Evaluation Activity 1

Top left hand corner: in this clip we show Conor punching the air as if he is taking part in some kind of fitness routine. this workout leads the audience to believe that the film is a action film when in reality it is a comedy. this illusion may draw in a wider range of audience which is good for any film.

Top middle: In this shot we have a close up of Sam's face and his 'logo'. This shot is good as it allows the audience to form an opinion on the bad guy, we show in the clip that the villain has a bad attitude like all villains do. We have filmed this shot in a dark gloomy room which is the stereotypical view of villain lairs, the room also represents Sam's character. We have not centred Sam within this scene as we are trying to make the audience aware of the room Sam is in. This is because the nature of the room adds to the building of the character by the audience.

Top right: In this shot we have used a double the over shoulder shot. This shot make the audience feel as if they are watching the TV with us. This is used to engage the audience with the film. We have centred the TV in this shot as our main focus as we wanted to draw the audiences attention to the fact that we are watching the television. This immediately makes the audience want to see the bad guy that me and Alex talked about earlier which means that early on we hook the audience in and they want to see more.

Middle left: In the middle left shot we can see that we have used an over the shoulder shot which gives the audience the perspective of the character and also involves the audience within the scene. When you compare it to the over the shoulder shot that we have used with the TV it is different as it has a character interaction. This shot is intended to make the audience switch on and pay attention to see what is happening.

Middle: Similar to the previous shot we have used an over the shoulder shot, my identity is hidden and remains hidden for the rest of the shot. We feel that this scene give the audience a feel of the environment that we are surrounded by. The scene is also important as it shows Conor's personality for the first time in the film.

Middle right: This match on action shot conceals the identity of the mystery man opening the door, this shot leaves the audience thinking about who this person is. This means that even though the hand is centred everyone the audience are aware of the dark scenery which gives them an indication that something bad will happen. This in turns builds up the audiences tension and anticipation therefore keeping them engaged.

Bottom left: We have change the font of the titles and moved them away from the centre of the shot to not distract the audience from the important news and the villain. We have used a wide shot purposely for the reason that we want the viewers to see that Sam is in a evil villain lair. This is how the audience find the villains true intentions.

Bottom middle: We have used a constructive shot which shows half of my body. This is effective as it creates an increase in tension to the scene. We cut it there and did not show any more so that we could make the audience tune in and really focus on what was about to happen. I think that this can also encourage the audience to use audience to use their own imagination to anticipate what might happen next. We have also shown costume in this scene for the first time as we see a hooded figure. This is our first real introduction into my character.

Bottom right: This is the title of Red Tornado, this is effective as we have centred the shot on the  massive explosion in the background which paints the scene of some violence in the movie which is what there is but in a comedic way with the super villains and the superhero. Again this is designed to grab the audiences attention. The Genre is not really given away in the first two minutes but Ii think that is effective as it allows us to have the tense build up at the start. We have decided to have the Red Tornado in the left hand corner as we are really trying to drive through the explosion which really gets the audience engaged.

Evaluation Activity 2

Similarities:
1.They both take the lead role in both our and the film spiderman. Myself, alex, is the main superhero but I'm yet to find himself in the opening two minutes and Toby Maguire is spiderman but at the start of his film he does not know that he is a superhero nor does he want to be.

2. We are both mysterious and hidden in the background characters at the start not aware of there real lives but look like outcasts to there peers.

3.There appearance is similair with the a ruggid look but a look sought after.

Differences:
1. I have a sidekick in Conor where as toby maguire as spiderman fights alone and doesnt need an aid where as from our opening two minutes it seems myself has a companion within Conor.

2.I know my enemy from an early stage where as toby as spiderman has a more in depth look into his family life before introducing a villanous character.

Film Conventions
The film conforms to most conventions of a comedy film, especially comedy spoofs of superhero films such as Kick Ass. There are lots of things similar between the two movies, as well as other movies under the genre of comedy or spoof. The simalarities between our film and Kick Ass are:

Similarities:
1. Both main characters have aspirations of become a superhero despite them being the most unlikely of heroes.
2.They both make themselves as superheroes despite having no special abilities over other normal human beings.
3.The main characters both learn very quickly whom their nemesis is.
4. The film begins very quickly with comedy and the funny reasons why these two main characters want to pursue a life of crime fighting.

Differences:
1.In our film the main character has a side kick whereas in Kick Ass the main character doesn't as such have a sidekick.
2. There are other superheroes in Kick Ass whom are also pursuing the same enemy.
3.Kick Ass shows the enemy as a normal human with no realisation that he is the enemy, whereas the enemy in our movie is and knows that he is a super villain.

Final Film

This is our final film.

Evaluation Activity 6

Tripod
These are the three peices of equipmet obviously the camera and the tripod are used to film the actual film but we used the computer to access photoshop and adobe premier elements we also used mindjet manager pro 6 this was to assist us with some of our planning and research and to help with our evaluation activitie to show what our audience would be like   we have also used other technology such as the i phone to have narrative voice overs while we talk we have used all the adobe software such as premiere elements and photoshop this is used to edit and make the core of the film and photoshop was used for most of our evaluation activitys and to allow our title sequences. The program we used to edit the film was easy to use after a few hours of use, once we learn't how the software used it was an excellent editing software and suited our needs to make film successful.
Premier Elements
We have also used internet network such as youtube so that we could put our film onto the internet.Obviously Blogger is a big part of how we were able to do  our evaluation tasks as we need to post them on there
Camera
The camera we used was also very easy and filmed high quality footage which was obviously a good thing to make our film the best it could be.

Evaluation Activity 4

Evaluation Activity 5

Our film Red Tornado has taken inspiration from other films such as the superhero movie as in the superhero movie it uses the same dramatic build up of music and scene sequences at the start that our film has used we have a heartbeat which makes the audience switch on as it is engaging them to wonder about what is going to happen . We have rolling credits which allows the audience to keep interest within the film while allowing them to see who is in the film . We rotate between two scenes which are Conor punching and doing pull ups while we have a dramatic and tense walk from alex in which we follow alexs feet this builds up tension as the audience are unaware of what is happening and where it will lead to myself then walks through the door to see Conor playing a game console this then straight away puts the audience at ease as they see that it is a comedy. We also will link this into the film batman as we have the two superheroes in Conor and I as the pairing of Robin and Batman except for with Conor and myself we are the opposite to the normal superhero and sidekick as we have an comedic twist to it where as they have a more serious look on crime and we take a more laid back approch to tackling crime. In our clip we show the villain as well as the superheroes which really gives the audience the full list of characters.

Treatment

1st the beginning- in the start of our film Red tornado we established the two hero’s and why he is a villain for. In the opening the hero’s Conor and Alex are just regular people. They see the villain Steve on the news and are disgusted. The next day Alex was walking to Conors ‘The hawks nest’ as he is walking there he is beaten up by Steve then villain. He then walks to conor all bruised a bleeding walks into Conor’s room outraged and wanting revenge. 2nd Middle – The Two hero’s plot there revenge with their new costumes which look like wannabe heroes. As they are plotting their revenge they are troubled about how to get Steve back but one day Conor was watching jimmy neutron followed by fairly odd parents and he suddenly comes up with a cunning plan to get Steve back to what he has done to Alex/ He runs to Alex’s to tell him the great news. 3rd End –The two heroes now have their plan set out and their all geared up in costume to get Steve back. They set off and prank call Steve pretending to be Stanley his useless sidekick for another new feed to the area but they trap him in a parking lot on the top of Sainsbury’s. They start to chase Steve but soon catch up and are forced to fight, slaps are thrown left right and centre between the three of them until the mighty battle has ended because of Steve running of crying to his mum. In the end the infamous duo of red tornado prevails. We like the treatment because we believe that it will give the audience a real taste of what is to follow within the rest of the film.

Script

Stanley: 3..2..1..action...i said action..steve! Steve: oh sorry anyways im going to destroy your towns and everything you know no one can do anything about it and no one can stop me!!! Stanley: What about your mum? Steve: shut up stanley!! Anyway yeah im gonna destroy your towns and everything you know no one can do anything about it and no one can stop me!!! Not even my mum...actually yeah my mum could. My name yes...my name is hmmmmm the critical eye. CONOR: OMG I JUST GOT COLLATED!!!! ALEX: CONOR JUST GO GET A LIFE MATE!! CONOR: IF YOU DON’T LIKE IT GET OUT OF THE HAWKS NEST kaka kaka ALEX: look conor I have been beaten up on my way to your ‘nest’ Conor: are you alright mate? We need to do something about this? This is our script for the opening two minutes it is a little short but i think it is good because it gets the message across to the audience that the heros are seeking revenge for what Sam has done. Our beggining of our film doesn't have much dialect but as mentioned above it will get the story across to the audience.

Poster

This is the poster for our film, we all worked on it on the program photoshop. We used the dramatic background as we think it looks good as well as it being a nuclear blast in which most superheroes will gain their power, but this is not what our story is about.

Dark Knight

The Dark Knight is a 2008 American superhero film directed, produced and co-written by Christopher Nolan. Based on the DC Comics character Batman, the film is part of Nolan's Batman film series and a sequel to 2005's Batman Begins. Christian Bale reprises the lead role of Bruce Wayne/Batman, with a returning cast of Michael Caine as Alfred Pennyworth, Gary Oldman as James Gordon and Morgan Freeman as Lucius Fox. The film introduces the character of Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart), Gotham's newly elected District Attorney and the cohort of Bruce Wayne's childhood friend Rachel Dawes (Maggie Gyllenhaal), who joins Batman and the police in combating the new rising threat of a criminal calling himself the "Joker" (Heath Ledger).
Nolan's inspiration for the film was the Joker's comic book debut in 1940, and the 1996 seriesThe Long Halloween, which retold Two-Face's origin. In addition elements of Steve Englehart and Marshall Rogers' Dark Detective miniseries as well as the unpublished follow-up were reportedly cannibalised along with other elements of Batman mythology for the story.
Despite this film not really of the same genre of our film I have decided to talk about it as it is a super hero film and our film will have a super hero aspect in it as it is a spoof.

Story Board

This is our story board for the opening 2 minutes of our film we believe that it is very comedic and it will suit our target audience and will fit our specific genre.  The story board is completely subject to change as difficulties may arise during the filming so we may have to edit it slightly or we may find that doing something different may be for the greater good and will make our film a lot better, but we will obviously try and stick to this story board as closely as we can and use it as a guide line for the filming. We have included many camera shots and we will have to use many different editing techniques in order to achieve the best finished product.

Sound

This Friday, the 27th, Conor and Sam are coming round to my house to begin producing the music for our film, this is also when we are starting the shot of our film. we aim to use the software that I mentioned earlier on when I talked about possible software to use. I have access to all of the possible music software we plan to use so my house is the ideal place to begin the production of our music and of course start filming.

Timeline

The following is a timeline that we wish to follow during out filming process:

Filming
27/01/12
4:00 pm
Meet to begin the filming process at my house, to film the scene's that will require the view from Conor's bedroom in the film. We will aim to film all of these scene's and to come back to my house at a later date if need be that we haven't filmed the required amount. The reason we are filming in my bedroom is because we need a typical teenagers bedroom and of course my room will be perfect.

30/01/12
11:00 pm
we will all meet to film the villains evil television broadcast, preferable in one of the storage cupboards as they are small and cramped as well as not offering much light which would be perfect for the evil villains speech.

Preliminary Task

This is my preliminary task, we use the 180 degree rule, match on action and over the shoulder shot. we learnt lot's of things from this such as camera shots which we could use for our genre of film. we have also learn't perhaps possible film locations if we need be as we all went to all possible classrooms and rooms to look for a suitable place to film this preliminary task.
